Manager's Message Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail

Mike Guarino, Park Manager

In the middle and lower keys, hurricane cleanup is still in progress. Heavy machinery used to remove debris is often present on the roads and right of ways. Trail users should be attentive to changing trail conditions. Cyclists should be prepared for the possibility of punctured tires when using the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail. Also note, in some areas asphalt on the trail was damaged from the storm. Trail users should avoid riding or walking in these areas.

Please see the list below for the sections of trail that are unusable due to remaining debris or asphalt damage.

Trail sections CLOSED due to unsafe conditions:

  • MM 71-69.5 Layton- Trail closed due to asphalt damage (approx. 1.5 mile)
