Blackwater Heritage State Park

Marshall Shaw, Park Manager

Now is a great time to visit the trail for a relaxing run or bicycle ride through the Real Florida.

Five trailheads with parking areas are located along the trail corridor. Southern Trailhead, located 2/10 mile north of the 0 mile marker, has limited parking, restrooms and a water fountain. One mile north, the Milton Trailhead, located just off U.S. 90, features picnic tables and a gazebo, restrooms, a water fountain and a bicycle rack. There is a shop across the street that sells, rents and repairs bicycles.

The visitor center, located approximately one mile north of the Milton Trailhead, offers parking, restrooms, picnic tables, barbecue grills, an amphitheater and a playground. Meeting space may be rented by calling 850-983-5338.

The equestrian trailhead on Munson Highway (County Road 191) provides parking for horse trailers and oversized vehicles, plus covered picnic benches and potable water as well as water for horses. An accessible portable toilet is located near the four-mile marker; waterless restrooms are located at both the six- and eight-mile markers. No potable water is available north of the equestrian trailhead, so trail users should plan to bring an ample supply.

A parking area and covered picnic table can be found at the eight-mile point where the Blackwater Heritage State Trail joins the Military Heritage Trail.
