Egmont Key offers a rare blend of seclusion and history, where the remains of Fort Dade rise above turquoise waters perfect for snorkeling. Visitors enjoy quiet beaches for shelling while shorebirds line the coast. The island is also an important sea turtle nesting area and all wildlife should be observed from a respectful distance. The south end of the island is designated as a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Refuge, where access is prohibited to protect these sensitive habitats.

Due to the sensitive nature of this island, pets are not allowed on any portion of Egmont Key.
