Blackwater River and Boating

River with floating boat dock and canoe launch.
Canoe launch at waters edge

Enjoy the ease of our floating boat dock and ADA accessible canoe/kayak launch. Both are beautifully designed and constructed to give those with limited mobility an opportunity to enjoy a leisurely paddle on the water using the ADA launching rig. View wildlife such as river otters, great blue herons, mangrove crabs, manatees, and even alligators and crocodiles.

The adventurous and experienced paddler will enjoy the challenge of traversing our 13.5-mile canoe trail by way of open bays and through shaded tunnels within a mangrove forest.

Before paddling through Mud Bay, always check the day’s tide schedule as the water level may be too low to navigate during periods of low tide. Once across Mud Bay, you might be committed to completing the entire loop.

Launching boats at our boat ramp will give you access to the tidal, mangrove-lined Blackwater River for some great fishing but with parts of the river narrow and shallow during low tide.

  • We recommend boats no larger than 24 feet with no more than a 12-inch draft.
