Tammy and Mike Kipp
Tammy and Mike Kipp both grew up and lived in Kinderhook, New York, until 2016, when they retired and moved to Florida. They always planned on volunteering after retirement, and after discovering Gasparilla Island State Park on a kayak ecotour, have been active volunteers ever since. They feel a special connection to the island and the people they have befriended.
Tammy and Mike are the go-to maintenance crew and have helped with many painting and construction projects on the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse and the Amory Chapel. They love the historical buildings and the beautiful beaches at the park. They especially enjoy the late winter and spring months at the park, when the weather is perfect and the park is busy with visitors. One of their favorite events is the annual Lighting of the Lighthouse in December, where they put their decorating skills to the test.
This active couple is an integral part of the volunteers with our friends group, Barrier Island Park Society. Their maintenance expertise and willingness to help with any project is an asset for the park.
When they are not busy working on a park project, you might find them on the beach soaking up the sun and watching the wildlife, anglers and boats navigating through the Boca Grande Pass.
