Volunteer Spotlight, Jeffrey Miron

Florida Conservation Corps Member Jeffrey Miron

Jeffrey is from Tampa and earned a bachelor’s degree in entomology from the University of South Florida. As a member of the Americorps' Florida Conservation Corps program, he has been able to explore Alafia River State Park while removing invasive exotic plants that alter the habitat for native plants and wildlife. Jeffrey has learned many new skills through training and field work such as mixing herbicide and using backpack sprayers and chainsaws. For Jeffrey, one of the perks of working with plants includes looking for and finding interesting insects that help tell part of the story at Alafia River State Park. These experiences have given him the opportunity to consider future career paths with the Florida Park Service. Jeffrey says he  lucky to be part of a unique program that allows him to grow as an individual while protecting the environment.
