Fort Mose Historic State Park is committed to providing a variety of accessible amenities to all of its visitors.

These amenities include:

The floating boardwalk platform on the water directly to the east of the museum provides a useful area to launch canoes and kayaks or tie up for the day's activities. Note that it is on a tributary and high tide will be necessary to use it.

Explore the important yet relatively unknown story of Fort Mose, the first legally sanctioned free African settlement in what would become the United States. Learn about the residents of Mose, who were former slaves who emancipated themselves from plantations in the Carolinas and Georgia during British rule, and how they lived day-to-day life in the first stop of the Underground Railroad.

Watch the movie in the museum's classroom, browse interactive exhibits including archaeological artifacts and maps, and discuss the complex and compelling story with the ranger on duty.

Fort Mose features wheelchair-accessible interpretive visual signage along the park's main boardwalk, and both visual and tactile signage along the sidewalk leading to the visitor center. This signage interprets the cultural and the natural resources that can be found within the park. The park has one manual wheelchair available during visitor-center operating hours on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fort Mose's accessible museum features interactive audio, video and tactile stations as well as paintings, historic maps, archaeological artifacts and hands-on learning. Audio tours are available with assisted listening devices; several exhibits feature Braille font and a large-print museum guide is available. The park has one manual wheelchair available during visitor-center operating hours on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fort Mose Historic State Park features a parking area near the main boardwalk. The two accessible parking spots have sidewalk access to the picnic pavilion. Two additional accessible parking spots are located near the visitor center. The overall parking capacity within these two parking areas is 26 spots.

Fort Mose's boardwalks along with a large area of open space behind the museum provide an excellent environment for pets. Please keep pets on a handheld leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. Please be courteous to other park guests by cleaning up all pet waste.

Fort Mose features two picnic areas. One is a sheltered accessible picnic pavilion near the main boardwalk complete with a large  accessible picnic table, accessible grill and accessible trash cans. The other is directly behind the visitor center and can accommodate a larger crowd with 10 tables, two of which are accessible. This picnic area is not under a roof but features a shady oak canopy. The park has one manual wheelchair available during visitor-center operating hours on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Fort Mose museum features air-conditioned wheelchair-accessible restroom facilities in the visitor center lobby. The restrooms are available during visitor-center operating hours.

Fort Mose's wheelchair-accessible visitor center includes the park's administrative office, a class room with a film depicting the story of Fort Mose, restrooms and a museum exhibit.

Fort Mose's main boardwalk, museum/visitor center and restrooms are fully wheelchair accessible. The park has one manual wheelchair available during visitor-center operating hours on a first-come, first-served basis.
