Spencer Aspy

2021 Adult Volunteer of the Year Award for Resource Management

Spencer Aspy has quickly become a member of the family at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park.

In a little over one year, Spencer has contributed more than 450 volunteer hours. He volunteers a couple of hours, three days a week, to keep the gardens up to standard. He is dedicated to keeping the lawns pristine and preserving the historical accuracy of the area.

With 28 acres to cover, Spencer has made an immeasurable impact on the park. He continually keeps the greenhouse organized and clean. He often helps with repairing the irrigation system for the expansive greenspace.

Spencer’s continual willingness to help where needed is a huge asset for park staff and visitors alike. When the park found itself short staffed for the 2021 Haunted House, Spencer volunteered to help the staff fill the haunted house. Spencer stayed for hours assisting park staff, and most importantly, making connections with visitors.

Spencer is described by the staff as high achieving, positive, and determined to overcome obstacles.

Congratulations to Spencer on his award. His volunteer efforts are appreciated.
