Enjoy a day on the water at Lake Griffin State Park. Visitors can rent a canoe or kayak to access the Dead River and Lake Griffin. Our boats are sturdy sit-on-top kayaks that are stable yet maneuverable. There is a minimum rental time of two hours. Along the way you may see birds, plants and maybe even an alligator.

Because there is no current on the Dead River, this trip is suitable for visitors of all experience levels.

No reservations are needed, just show up at the park and a ranger will lend you a life jacket and a paddle and show you a map of the waterway. You can then drive right up to the launch area to unload your gear. The boats are waiting for you down by the water so there’s no need to worry about loading the boats on to your vehicle.

Rental Rates

  • Single kayaks: $10 per hour with a two-hour minimum.
  • Canoes and double kayaks: $12 per hour with a two-hour minimum.
