Paul Rice, Park Manager

There’s much to look forward to in visiting the park, with abundant opportunities to learn about our unique Keys environment. Ranger and volunteer-led nature walks are offered almost daily.

The Visitor Center and Aquarium, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is the interpretive center of the park. Here you can see fish, lobsters and other marine animals in our 30,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, as well as in the smaller aquariums. Narrated fish feedings happen on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m., as well as a weekly aquarium tour.

Not to be missed is a boat tour to the coral reef, offered by Coral Reef Park Company, the park’s concessionaire. Options offered include the separately run tours: glass bottom boat, snorkel boat or scuba diving boat. As a Blue Star operator promoting sustainable practices for a healthy reef, all boat tours are excellent ways to experience this special ecosystem. For reservations, visit

Picnicking, swimming and camping are additional ways to enjoy the park, whether it’s for the day or a week.

We now have a citizens support organization for the park. The board of directors is working hard and anticipates a general membership kickoff. Look for notices of that event. If you would like to be involved with caring for the park, a variety of volunteer opportunities exist. Please contact to find out more.

I know you’ll enjoy your time at the park and look forward to seeing you here soon.
