Coming to work at Big Lagoon State Park every day, I am consistently inspired by the beauty of the surroundings. Whether I am on a hiking trail surrounded by scrubby flatwoods, climbing the three-story observation tower overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, or enjoying a quiet moment on the wooden boardwalk overlooking Long Pond, there is always something different to see in the natural, protected habitats of the park.
I am extremely proud of the teamwork, dedication, integrity and good cheer of the team at Big Lagoon State Park. Whether they are volunteers, citizen support organization members or park rangers, our team members can be found throughout the park with a smile on their face and a willingness to share their knowledge with our visitors.
You might notice several current projects happening at Big Lagoon, including construction of our new boat ramp, re-decking of the boardwalks at the East Beach Area and safety issues being addressed at our park playgrounds. Thank you for your patience as staff are working hard to make the park safer and more enjoyable for you.
