$6.00 per vehicle for park entry; No additional fees for program participation
Description
A park ranger will read tales about wildlife, mindfulness and environmental stewardship then take everyone on a short walk on our Discovery Trail.
We will read indoors in a temperature-controlled room, then connect the main ideas from the stories we read to what we see on the trail (~0.25 mile). Our walk is on a firm but sandy trail in a sunny, exposed area. Unfortunately, this trail is difficult to traverse for the average baby stroller. It is suggested that participants on the walk take preventative measures against ticks. If the heat index is at or above 90°F, we may shorten the hike and opt to end with an activity inside.
The program is designed with preschoolers and early elementary learners in mind, but anyone who enjoys a good picture storybook is welcome to join. Family style bathrooms and disability parking are available at the Environmental Education Center where we will be meeting.
