Description

Excitement is in the Air! The Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks, in partnership with expert guide Joan Tague, invite you to a Beginner's Birding Class. Enjoy a one-hour indoor session in the Rec Hall, followed by an optional one-hour bird walk in the South Area. This workshop will include both classroom and outdoor opportunities to hone your skills. You will be introduced to tools that will help you to whittle down the possibilities and that will get you to the right id: "I know what that is!" The class is recommended for adults and older children accompanied by an adult. Topics Covered:
• Why should I want to know how to identify birds? (Find out what you are missing)
• The Basics of Bird Identification (Preparation and concentration)
• The importance of time and place
• The Power of Quiet Observation and Listening
• Binoculars and other optics (How to choose and how to use)

Meet at: Tomoka State Park Rec Hall
What to Bring: Water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and sturdy shoes (uneven terrain expected).
