Park Ranger, Tommy Brown

Lake Kissimmee State Park

Tommy Brown is a Navy veteran who began his career with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in September 2015. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration management with a concentration in hospitality and tourism, and Tommy has contributed to the visitor experience at Lake Kissimmee State Park in countless ways.

When he first joined our park, he assisted in the construction of our floating dock so that day guests would have better access to park waterways. He partnered with the park services specialist and has taken the role with all of the functions with the Junior Ranger program. During the transition of hiring a new administrative assistant for Lake Kissimmee State Park, Tommy stepped up and performed all the duties required for normal daily operations. Tommy also has taken the lead with organizing shop facilities for ease and functionality. Tommy has had a love for the environment since he was a child and has continued his passion for Florida's state parks.

From interpreting the park's rich history to guests, to teaching a new angler some fishing techniques, Tommy has found a place among Lake Kissimmee State Park to call his home.
