The Claw Run @ Alafia River State ParkSunday, May 3, 2015 - 8:00am to 2:00pm EDT
5 Mile: $35.00 registration in addition to regular park admission.
10 Mile: $50.00 registration in addition to regular park admission.
The XTERRA Claw course will be fun and challenging with stream crossings, small hills and some off-trail running. The five mile course is a fun course and it is fairly straight forward. The extra five miles of the ten mile course goes into sections of the park that are closed. The ten mile course is a very interesting course without many races like it in the area.

Start Times: 10 Mile - 8:00 a.m., 5 Mile – 8:30 a.m.
The park will open at 6:45 a.m. when race registration/packet pickup will begin. Only pre-registered runners will receive a race packet and are guaranteed a race day t-shirt. Race day registration is also available.
All finishers of the ten mile run will get awards and the top finishers of the five mile will get awards. There will be custom trophies for the overall male and female and masters male and female.
There will be water stops along the routes.
There will be a breakfast after the race along with music and giveaways.
Guided Scrub Walk @ Oscar Scherer State ParkSunday, May 3, 2015 - 8:30am to 10:00am EDT
There is no cost to participate other than normal park entrance fees for day-use visitors.

This weekly walk begins at the Nature Center & includes an informative walk through an ancient dune system. This unique habitat is home to the threatened Florida scrub-jay & a variety of plants and other animals. Participants should wear comfortable footwear for walking in soft sand. Cameras and binoculars are suggested. Space is limited to 15 people.

This program will allow visitors to interact with living historians to experience life in the fort as it was in 1864. The grounds will be bustling with soldiers in period costumes involved in firing demonstrations, marching drills, cooking and daily activities. Ladies in their dresses, sutlers displaying their wares, fife players and drummer boys bring every part of the civil war era to life. Come join in this unique, family friendly event.

See the impacts of the resource management activities performed by park staff and enjoy learning a little more about Florida’s unique ecosystems.
