Sea turtles are returning to nest and we are hoping for another record breaking season! Last year between March and November we had a total of 1866 nests. Participants for the sea turtle walks and talks must register for this program by going to the Friends of MacArthur Beach website, www.macarthurbeach.org. the price is $10 per ticket and they are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by park staff. Registration launches on May 26 at 9:00 a.m. and fills up quickly. Walk schedule starts on June 1 and runs through July 24. The walks are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, except for June 26 and July 3.
Camper’s Campfire Program @ Wekiwa Springs State ParkSaturday, May 30, 2015 (All day)

Registered park campers are invited to join us on Saturday evenings, starting 30 minutes after sunset, at the amphitheater adjacent to the general camping area within the park for our Campfire Circle Programs.
The programs are presented by volunteers and park rangers on a wide range of topics suitable for people of all ages.

Through collaborative efforts of the Florida Department of Health in Columbia County (DOH-Columbia County) we will begin a monthly health walk series entitled “Hiking for Health at O’Leno State Park.” The program will kick off on Saturday, May 30th at 8:00am with DOH-Columbia County offering free weight and BMI checks before a scheduled walk with park rangers at 9:30am. Health walks will continue throughout the summer and are scheduled to be held the third Saturday of every month. DOH will continue to provide weight and BMI checks before each walk so that participants can monitor their progress. Participants in the inaugural event will receive 5 free day park passes when they register for the program on-site, which can be redeemed at any Florida State Park.

A Master Naturalist will lead visitors on a beach excursion which will begin at the beachside pavilion located on the east side of the park in front of the beach walkover. Beach walkers will learn about the natural beach ecosystem including native plant and animal species, geology of the park, waves, currents and rip tides. This tour combines morning exercise with an educational eco-tour.
All ages are welcome and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Walking shoes and appropriate clothes, sunscreen and drinking water are recommended.
Event is subject to cancellation due to weather conditions.
Meet at the beach side pavilion on the east side of the park.

Rise and Shine!...and join us in the morning for a light, yoga stretch. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the park’s Mediterranean-style garden. Please bring a large towel and water. Mats are also recommended and some will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
After the stretch, consider visiting the museum and visiting, La Casita.
