Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

Tucked between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway, this peaceful sanctuary offers visitors a slice of coastal wilderness within this vibrant city. Ft. Lauderdale’s “Central Park” was gifted to the city by Hugh Taylor Birch for whom this urban oasis is named.

Florida Scrub Jay

Oscar Scherer State Park

An unexpected oasis surrounded by urban sprawl providing visitors with a refreshing escape into natural Florida. This hidden gem is a refuge not only for visitors, but for the imperiled Florida scrub-jay, bald eagles and other birds who nest along the shores of Lake Osprey.
