Coastal Cleanup is the largest volunteer service event to remove litter from our rivers and oceans for the protection of our wildlife. Volunteers are needed at Wakulla Springs State Park to assist the park's Citizen's Support Organization, the Friends of Wakulla Springs State Park, to remove litter from their adopted section of road that borders the park and leads to the Wakulla River. Volunteers need to provide work clothes and shoes. Work gloves and a water bottle are also suggested and encouraged. Following the event volunteers are invited to attend the Coastal Cleanup Celebration at Panacea, sponsored by Keep Wakulla County Beautiful. Attendees will receive a Coastal Cleanup t-shirt and lunch. Registration is required. Please register to be a part of this event by calling Jackie Turner at 850-561-7281. Meet at the park’s side gate.

Wakulla Springs State Park will have a special event to improve and protect our Public Lands. Volunteers are needed. Space is limited, and registration is required. Following lunch, registered participants will be welcomed to take a guided river boat tour of the Wakulla River. Volunteers need to provide work clothes and shoes. Wakulla Springs State Park will host a ranger-led early morning trek through its varying forest communities. Migrating songbirds and autumn colors create the potential for a special walk. For those early rising guests in the magnificent Wakulla Springs Lodge, those wishing to burn a few calories after or in preparation for breakfast in the dining room, or for those who are simply curious; this walk through the woods in the early morning light may hold a surprise or two.  Please call (850) 561-7286 to make your reservation.  Meet in the lobby of the Lodge at Wakulla Springs.

Wakulla Springs State Park will be participating in World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD). World Water Monitoring Day is an international water monitoring event. WWMD was started to involve local citizens in basic water quality monitoring and to increase public awareness of local water quality issues. At Wakulla Springs, volunteers are needed to collect water chemistry data from 4 springs and 20 sinkholes on park property. Space is limited, and registration is required. Volunteers need to provide work clothes and shoes. Participants also need to provide a water bottle and lunch. Registration is required. The six-mile round trip journey will take participants through hardwood uplands, longleaf flatwoods, and cypress sloughs. Surrounded by nature, guests will make stops to investigate the connections between plants, fungi, wildlife, and human history. Arrive early and fuel up with breakfast or follow-up your adventure with lunch in the historic Wakulla Springs Lodge.

The tour is free with paid park admittance. Participants will need to bring a bicycle with good suspension, water, snacks (ie. fruit or granola), and a bicycle helmet. Space is limited. Please call (850) 561-7286 to make your reservation.
