Earth Day event on 4/25/15 from 9 a.m.-1p.m. at the historic azalea garden.

Park Rangers, CSO members, and volunteers will be doing a cleanup, invasive plant pull, and continued restoration of the historic azalea garden followed by a free hot dog lunch! This is an opportunity to spend time with family and friends while learning about some of Florida’s natural and cultural heritages.

Park Rangers will be presenting programs on several different topics including campfire basics, folk story-telling, prehistoric technology, the origins of food and much more all around the glow of a campfire. This is an opportunity to spend time with family and friends while learning about some of Florida’s natural and cultural heritages.

Additional Information:

Bring your own blanket or lawn chair to Stephen Foster’s Campground.

Parking will be available at the multi-use trailhead parking area.

The Festival has again been named a “Top 20 Event” in the Southeast. With the best of Florida’s music, arts and culture there is something for everyone. You’re sure to hear plenty of wonderful music, enjoy tasty food, join a jam session, take a workshop, do a little shopping and pay tribute to Florida’s land, people and diverse cultural heritage. In addition to a full schedule of performances, you’ll find plenty to amuse and educate. Folk artists and tradition-bearers presented each year in the Folklife Area reflect research and field documentation conducted by the Florida Department of State’s Folklife Program. The 2015 Folklife Area celebrates the diverse cultures of St. Johns County. Since 1953, folk artists have come together for this event. One of the oldest state folk festivals in America will continue a grand tradition of celebrating Florida’s land, food, people and diverse cultural heritage. With more than 300 performances by Florida’s greatest folk and roots artists, including national recording artists, songwriters and musicians of swing, folk, blues, gospel, country, Latin, jazz, bluegrass, Caribbean and zydeco music, it is truly an event not to be missed.

Gates open at 8:00 a.m. and opening ceremonies will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22nd, on the banks of the Suwannee River.

Antiques, Arts and Collectibles Day @ Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park

Collectors from all across the area will gather at Stephen Foster to display antiques, unique art and collectibles. Come enjoy a variety of collections of teapots, linens, furniture, dolls, silver, farm equipment and more. Spend time visiting with the collectors to learn about their different items and how they started collecting.

This three day event offers participants in-depth instruction in old time music techniques on the banjo, guitar, and fiddle for all levels. Concerts will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings in the park auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening is the Florida Masters Concert and Saturday evening is the Instructor’s Showcase.

Additional Information:

A spouse program is also offered for just $85.00 and includes two concerts, jams and all meals.

Tickets for public admission to the concerts are $10.00.

$199.00 registration includes all workshops, jam sessions, discussion groups, concerts and meals.

Quilt Show and Sale @ Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park

Quilts of all shapes and sizes will be on display. The tranquil setting along the historic and famous Suwannee River is the perfect place to shop, display, sell and enter into a judged showing or just to show off your quilting skills and treasures. Throughout the park you will enjoy boutiques, quilting supply vendors, demonstrations, lectures, door prizes, food and more.

We are also looking for kids that have a quilt they would like to enter. Please enter all quilts by October 09, 2015.

Buses are welcomed. Register your group bus and we will have goodie bags with door prizes ready for you upon arrival.
