The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park invites you to our Mushroom Log Workshop! Participants will each receive two logs to inoculate with the mushroom spawn variety of their choice – Shiitake, Oyster, Lion’s Mane, or Turkey Tail.  Participants must specify their variety choice at time of registration - both logs will be the same variety.  Participants will drill the appropriate holes in the logs, use a mallet to hammer in the mushroom plugs, and then seal the plugs with wax.  The logs are yours to take home!  Then WAIT 9-12 months for the first flush of mushrooms and enjoy home grown mushrooms for years thereafter.
