Come Celebrate Literacy Month at Maclay Gardens State Park. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the gardens as you listen to stories being read by the staff.   Cookies and lemonade will be served for your enjoyment.

National Public Lands Lake Overstreet Work Day @ Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park

We invite the public to a volunteer work day to celebrate National Public Lands Day.  We plan to work on the trail system cutting back vegetation and filling in eroded areas to make the trails a better place to stroll, bike and run.  We will be using shovels, rakes and hand pruning tools Come join the fun and companionship.

Additional Information:

Bring water, insect repellant, sunscreen and your gloves.  You may bring any hand tools you would like to use.  Wear comfortable shoes and long pants.  We will meet at the Lake Overstreet Trail Head to register.

Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park and The Friends of Maclay Gardens Inc. invite the public to enjoy an evening of Jazz in the Gardens.

Enjoy the music of The Longineu Parsons Group and The Thursday Night Music Club under the moonlight on the front lawn of the historic Maclay House overlooking Lake Hall.  Bring your blanket or lawn chairs, picnic, favorite beverages and friends.

Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park and the Friends of Maclay Gardens INC. would like the public to participate in and come out and see the display of one of a kind scarecrows during the month of October.  We invite you to create your own scarecrow and enter in the contest.  The registration deadline is October 1, 2015 and the contest is open to individuals, businesses, community groups, clubs and families.  Scarecrows will be on display October 7 - October 31, 2015.

Kid's Fishing Day at Maclay @ Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park

Saturday, June 4, 2016 - 9:00am to 12:00pm EDT

Admission for the event is free with regular park entrance of $6.00 per vehicle (eight person’s maximum occupancy).

This program is designed to introduce children of all ages to fishing through family interaction.  Participants and their families are rotated through different stations. After learning different aspects of freshwater fishing, the participants will fish from the dock. There will be drawings throughout the day for prizes sponsored by local merchants.

Please dress appropriately for a warm morning on the shores of Lake Hall and enjoy this opportunity for family fun and physical activity.
