The Ormond Beach Historical Society and Tomoka State Park will take visitors to the recently excavated Indian mounds called the Tomoka Mound Complex, an area rich in Native American history.
Dr. Jon Endonino, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Anthropology with Eastern Kentucky University, will share his site mapping work from previous excavations of these mounds. It's the first ever behind-the-scenes tour of the area. Afterwards, the Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks will host a picnic (food available for purchase) at the South Picnic Area on the Tomoka River. All food proceeds will benefit the friends group in their efforts to support the Tomoka Basin State Parks. .
