Seminole Wars historian James Marshall, attired and equipped as a private of the 3rd U.S. Artillery Regiment, circa 1835, will conduct a battlefield walk over the ground where Major Dade and his detachment of U.S. troops were defeated by the Seminoles commanded by Chief Micanopy in December 1835.
This living history tour of the battlefield describes the battle as given by its survivors, and the official report of the army, and interprets the scene as it was found by U.S. troops in early 1836 when they arrived to bury Dade and his fallen men.
Tours will be conducted at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Living history at the log breastworks in front of the Visitor Center will be help in between tours
