Description
The pioneer "cracker" village is a collection of buildings that evoke life on the Florida frontier.
The village is an assortment of historic and replica structures typical of the 1800s and includes several cabins, a one-room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, sugar cane mill and syrup kettle, wood-fire pottery kiln, and a replica Seminole Indian camp. Tours start at 10 a.m. and occur approximately every 15 to 20 minutes after until noon.
In order to participate in this program, one:
Must have the ability to follow visual and/or verbal instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.
Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors for a period of up to 1½ hours.
Must have the ability to traverse uneven terrain for up to 2 miles independently or with the assistance of a companion.
Must have the ability to tolerate bright sunlight for 30 minutes or more.
