Weeki Wachee Springs State Park needs your help to restore the natural habitat and enhance the park's appearance, for the enjoyment of the visitors to this historical attraction.
We greatly appreciate the volunteers you have provided in the past. The Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park are recruiting volunteer groups for National Public Lands Day.
Activities include: Invasive plant removal, algae removal, trimming of shrubs, removal of dead and fallen plant debris, trail maintenance, weeding, planting, spreading mulch and general cleaning up around the park. Appropriate attire for the morning's activities include: close-toed shoes, gloves, and a hat. You may bring a bathing suit and/or change of clothes. Be sure they are marked with ID.
Volunteers can spend the rest of the day enjoying the park amenities, including Buccaneer Bay Water Park. Ice water, beverages, and breakfast snacks will be provided along with lunch at noon.
These hours can be certified for "Bright Futures" Application. Please return the list of volunteers (Cadets and Staff) via scan and email to: Emily.May@dep.state.fl.us by Friday, 13th September. Also included is a parental permission form for those students under 18 years of age. These forms can be brought on the day of the event. Partnerships include: Recycling, Coca-Cola, Weeki Fresh Water Adventures, SWFWMD, Hernando County and Republic Waste Services.
