Description

Dade Pioneers is a monthly after-school youth program in which children 8 to 18 learn about Florida history and natural resources while having fun. Hands-on activities include pioneer and Seminole games and crafts. Entertaining speakers and living historians in period garb interpret a variety of topics. Snacks are provided at each meeting. Essential Eligibility Criteria Dade Battlefield Historic State Park Dade Pioneers In order to participate in this activity, one: • Must have the ability to follow visual and/or verbal instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion. • Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors for up to 2 hours during the day. • Must have the ability to withstand exposure to an enclosed air conditioned and/or heated building for up to 2 hours during the day. • Must have the ability to use hand, eye, and foot coordination independently or with the assistance of a companion or with the use of adaptive equipment for pioneer games, home and outdoor crafts.
