Description

The kind of jaywalking you won't get in trouble for!!!

No pets are allowed on tour for the safety of the birds.

This is a guided hiking tour where we will trek through just about 0.25 miles of scrub to look for our iconic Florida Scrub Jay. The ranger will educate the visitors on Florida scrub habitat and the Florida Scrub Jay. They will discuss the bird's appearance, lifestyle, behavior, importance to the scrub, and threats. At the end, the ranger will tell visitors what they can do to help Florida Scrub Jays.

Visitors should be prepared with water, sunscreen, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes. Most of the hike is on soft sand.
Visitors will let the Ranger Station know they are here for the JayWalk. The ranger will direct visitors to turn down the dirt road just past the Ranger Station. Visitors will park in a convenient location not blocking any work vehicles. Binoculars are not required, but highly recommended
.
Visitors should make sure to arrive early to account for traffic and to ensure they get into the park before any potential closures.
