Candlelight Tours @ Fort Clinch State Park

Experience Fort Clinch by candlelight. Every Friday and Saturday until Labor Day Weekend tours will be offered approximately half an hour after sunset. Reservations are required and open at 8:00 am on Monday the week of the tour. Availability is limited and the tour is subject to cancellation due to weather. Please contact the Ranger Station (904) 277-7274 for more information, reservations and exact times.

This is a fun, family event where visitors can volunteer to clean our beautiful stretch of beach.  Sign in at the beach entrance next to the park's restaurant, Park & Ocean.  Volunteers will need to wear closed-toed shoes and be able to walk, bend, kneel and pick up items for two hours.  We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen and a refillable water bottle.

Experience musket firing demonstrations as the Castillo de San Marcos Militia trains with the Fort Mose Militia. Children are welcomed to participate in Junior Militia training using our handmade wooden toy muskets and authentic militia uniform items. Monthly musters will not be held during July and December.

This program will allow visitors to interact with living historians to experience life in the fort as it was in 1864. The grounds will be bustling with soldiers in period costumes involved in firing demonstrations, marching drills, cooking and daily activities. Ladies in their dresses, sutlers displaying their wares, fife players and drummer boys bring every part of the civil war era to life. Come join in this unique, family friendly event.

Kayaking the mangroves guided tour @ Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park

Join one of our park rangers for a guided paddle through Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park.  This tour is perfect for kayakers of all skill levels and lasts about an hour.  You will learn about our history as well as our plants and wildlife.  If the tides are not cooperating then we substitute the paddle with a guided nature hike.  The tour lasts about an hour to an hour and a half.

Additional Information:

We recomend bug spray, sun block, and closed toed water shoes for the paddle. 

An Evening Under the Stars @ Big Lagoon State Park

Free event with regular park admission. You must arrive before sunset to pay the park entrance fees. The park closes at sunset, which varies throughout the year.

Escambia Amatuer Astronomer's Association is partnering with Big Lagoon State Park to offer an Evening under the Stars. They will have multiple telescopes available for viewing different celestial objects of interest.
