Learning about and purchasing native plants can be a daunting task, but it just got easier! The Coccoloba Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society volunteers will be selling native plants at the Koreshan State Historic Site Farmers Market Sundays, 8:00am - 1 pm.  Experts will be on hand to help answer your questions and teach you about the wonderful benefits of adding native plants to your landscaping. Come out and help the Oleta Trail Blazer mountain bike group as they volunteer to help improve the mountain biking trails in the park.  Volunteering with this group includes but is not limited to cutting small exotic trees, adding dirt to trails, repairing ramps and bridges, building new features to the trail, trimming back vegetation and much more!  if you love to ride in Oleta River State Park and also want to help make the park even better, we hope to see you at a volunteer day in the future!  Tools and equipment will be provided by the park.

2018 School of the Soldier - Museum Area @ Silver Springs State Park

Learn about the civil war through living history. The Federal troops of the 14th Brooklyn Company G will be encamped in the exterior grounds of the Silver River Museum as they train and prepare for other demonstrations. Visitors will be able to tour their camp and talk to the soldiers. There will be an hourly presentation of colors beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the last presentation at 4:00 p.m. Other presentations include a military drill, small arms firing, battalion instruction, and weapons maintenance.

The Beatrice Haven Ladies Academy will have a sewing circle that will demonstrate the creation of items for relief packages that would have been sent to the soldiers in the field by the U.S. Sanitary Commission.

Please note that this is a small scale encampment and will not have any vendors, exhibitors, or re-enactments.
