Join Native Nursery Volunteer Jenny Doyle for an informative and enjoyable walk through a tropical hardwood hammock. Jenny will focus the walk on forest habitat hurricane survival, following Hurricane Irma's visit to the park last September. The walk is free with the park entrance fee of $2.50 per person. Long sleeves and pants and insect repellent are suggested. Limited to 15 participants. Meet at the park's main entrance (former Port Bougainville archway), 1/2 mile north of the point where U.S. Highway 1 and County Road 905 converge.

Additional Information:

The walk is conducted on both asphalt and unpaved trails. Participants may choose to stop at any point and easily return to the entrance.

Join park staff for a guided 4 mile paddle.

We stop 3 to 5 times to talk about the plants, animals, the park, and Seminole Indians history of the area.

Ages 6 and up.

$30 per person, (2 people per canoe), plus park entry fee of $5.00 up to 8 people in your car or $4.00 for a single occupant.

Registration is required.

Canoe, life jackets, whistles and paddles are provided.

Wear: Comfortable clothing, your shoes could get wet.

Bring: Water, bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses, dry bag, hat and a light jacket.

There is no place to get out of the canoe once the trip starts, so a restroom stop is wise just before the trip. A restroom is located in the picnic area in the boat basin.

9:00 am - Meet at the Ranger Station to make payment and then proceed to the boat basin/canoe launch area.

9:15 am – Be at the boat basin/canoe launch for introduction and review of paddling strokes and safety tips.

9:30 am – Canoe Trip starts.

12:30 pm - Canoe Trip ends.

Nature Hike - EVERY Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Join a park naturalist for a walk on the Nature Trails of Koreshan State Historic Site. Learn some park history, history of the Estero River and find out about plants and critters that we meet along the way. Walk will begin at the Koreshan State Historic Site picnic area near the kayak launch. Note: Reservations requested. Thanks to the Moon Lit Fakahatchee Tram Tours, you can now view the magnificent Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park under the illumination of a full moon. The “Ghost Rider” tram, named in honor of the famous Ghost Orchid found in the park, lets you tour the park without concentrating on the road. The Fakahatchee is home to more orchid species than any other place on the North American continent. The Preserve is also a haven for diverse wildlife and migratory birds.

All tours start as the sun is setting, prime time for photography and spotting some of the mammal residents of the Strand as well as birds settling in for the evening.

The 24-passenger tram is high and dry and will provide an excellent platform for viewing park features illuminated by moonlight. City-dwellers will be amazed at how their vision changes as their eyes adapt to the light the moon provides.

An experienced naturalist lead each tram tour and will demonstrate communication with denizens of the night, including fireflies, bats and owls. The tram is wheelchair accessible and some seats face backwards. Participants will be required to sign a standard release of liability form. Any cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance to receive refund.

The tram leaves from the ranger station at 137 Coastline Drive, Copeland, off Janes Scenic Drive.  Janes Scenic drive is ONLY acessible via SR 29 ( between I-75 and US 41) DO NOT rely on incorrect GPS information providing other routes to access Jane Scenic dirve in Copeland.

ARRIVE EARLY, this tour departs in time for the sunset and moonrise.

NOTE: PLEASE CHECK WEATHER REPORTS AND DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR THIS ADVENTURE. EVENINGS CAN BE COOL WHEN THIS TOUR IS OFFERED.

Diamond Dixie is an up and coming country duo, from Orlando, Florida.  The duo consists of sisters, Gabriela and Bianca LeDuc. Diamond Dixie plays their own special versions of covers and original music, as well as fun videos. Their shows have people dancing in the isles and down the rows and others sitting, smiling and tapping their toes.

The concert will take place at the pavilions on Coconut Point, located on the south side of Sebastian Inlet.
