Learning about and purchasing native plants can be a daunting task, but it just got easier! The Coccoloba Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society volunteers will be selling native plants at the Koreshan State Historic Site Farmers Market Sundays, 8:00am - 1 pm.  Experts will be on hand to help answer your questions and teach you about the wonderful benefits of adding native plants to your landscaping. Come meet the birds at Anastasia State Park on this monthly bird walk! This fun and informative walk is open to participants of all birding levels. Participants will observe a diverse variety of shore birds, marsh birds, and hammock birds by walking the beach, boardwalks, nature trails, and other areas. Please dress for the weather and bring binoculars, water, comfortable walking shoes, and a field guide if you have one. Gamble Plantation Spring Open House Tour Essential Eligibility Criteria

Must have the ability to follow visual and/or verbal instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion

Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors for a period of 120 minutes.

Must have the ability to traverse uneven terrain for up to 100 yards.

For first floor tours must have either the ability to traverse a wood ramp at an incline of 5 degrees for 8 feet or climb 2 stairs 6 inches high and a treadwidth of 11 inches; independently or with assistance of a companion.

For second floor tours must have the ability to climb 17 stairs that are7 inches high and treadwidth of 11 inches; independently or with the assistance of a companion.

Join park staff for a guided 4 mile paddle.

We stop 3 to 5 times to talk about the plants, animals, the park, and Seminole Indians history of the area.

Ages 12 and up.

$30 per person, (2 people per canoe), plus park entry fee of $5.00 up to 8 people in your car or $4.00 for a single occupant.

Registration is required.

Canoe, life jackets, whistles and paddles are provided.

Wear: Comfortable clothing, your shoes could get wet.

Bring: Water, bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses, dry bag, hat and a light jacket.

There is no place to get out of the canoe once the trip starts, so a restroom stop is wise just before the trip. A restroom is located in the picnic area in the boat basin.

9:00 am - Meet at the Ranger Station to make payment and then proceed to the boat basin/canoe launch area.

9:15 am – Be at the boat basin/canoe launch for introduction and review of paddling strokes and safety tips.

9:30 am – Canoe Trip starts.

12:30 pm - Canoe Trip ends.

Azalea Days @ Ravine Gardens State Park

Join us as we celebrate the end of azalea season at our historic 23rd Annual Azalea Days event! Spend the day at Ravine Gardens touring through arts and craft vendors or take a stroll through our historic gardens. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase during the event.

Saturday: This year we are adding live entertainment! The line up along with the schedule of events will be announced on the Friends of Ravine Gardens Facebook page.

Sunday: Guided Hikes will be offered at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm. They will begin at the formal gardens and travel about 1.5 miles down the terraces and over the park's suspension bridge. For those who may have difficulty traversing the uneven terrain on the hike, ranger programs discussing the history of the park will be offered at the large pavilion at 12:00pm and 2:00pm.

Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Irma, we will not be able to provide wagon tours this year.

Plan to make a day of it by visiting the Florida Azalea Festival in downtown Palatka, only minutes from Ravine Gardens State Park. For more information visit www.flazaleafest.com.

2018 Florida SpringsFest @ Silver Springs State Park

The popular annual festival returns to Silver Springs for a two day celebration of music, art, and movies. This year will feature special guest Ricou Browning, the original "creature" himself, at the Legends of the Lagoon room. He will be signing autographs all weekend. Glass bottom boat tickets will be discounted to 50% for all 30 minute boat tours. In addition to regular activities that the park offers, such as canoe and kayak rentals, there will be live music on two stages, over 40 exhibitors and vendors, mermaids, live animal displays, artists, and photographers. There will also be a silent auction and a showcase of student artwork from over 100 students from 12 different schools. Finally, come hungry because a food truck rally will have 9 different food vendors.

Join us for a Guided Walking Tour of the Historic Koreshan Settlement. Explore structures and gardens of the 19th century utopian settlement and learn about these idealistic pioneers. The walking tour is about an hour and a half and is accessible to all.

Additional Information:

Park admission is $2 for bicycle/pedestrian, $4 for one person in a vehicle, $5 for up to 8 persons in a vehicle. Walking tour lasts approximately 1 hour and is mostly outdoors on a crushed shell path. Please bring water, proper footware, and sun protection. Wheelchair available upon request.

Requests for these and other tours for clubs, home school associations, and other groups can be made by calling the Ranger Station at (239) 992-0311. We make every effort to accommodate all groups, however we may not be able to fulfill requests made with less than a two week notice.
