Due to predicted inclement weather, Santa Over the Rainbow has been cancelled Friday night, December 8, 2017. The event will continue Saturday and Sunday, December 9th and 10th.

The Friends of Rainbow Springs are proud to present Santa Over the Rainbow 2017. Bring the whole family to Rainbow Springs State Park for an evening extravaganza. Christmas lights will illuminate the park and welcome Santa, who arrives at 7:00pm on the river via his pontoon sleigh boat! Photos with Santa for sale. Enjoy food, music, and an array of crafts and gifts. No pets please.

Come enjoy the magic and mystery of the holiday season during the annual Nights of Lights, sponsored by the Friends of Fort Cooper, December 8th - 10th from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The trails, trees, pavilion and Recreation Hall will be decked out in holiday decorations. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will welcome children each night at the Rec Hall. Roast marshmallows and make s'mores Friday and Saturday. Refreshments will be served all three nights in the park pavilion and holiday music can be enjoyed along the trails.

In lieu of an entrance fee, please bring a non-perishable food item or an unwrapped toy for the Citrus United Basket of Inverness or pet food for the Citrus County Animal services. Last year, over 3,500 people attended this popular event and provided over 3,800 pounds of groceries, 60 toy donations and over 600 pounds of pet food.  The Friends of Fort Cooper, the Citizen Support Organization for the State Park, hope to surpass these numbers this year!

Learning about and purchasing native plants can be a daunting task, but it just got easier! The Coccoloba Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society volunteers will be selling native plants at the Koreshan State Historic Site Farmers Market Sundays, 8:00am - 1 pm.  Experts will be on hand to help answer your questions and teach you about the wonderful benefits of adding native plants to your landscaping. Come visit our Junior Ranger table from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Learn how to become a Junior Ranger and join us for lots of cool nature activities! We will also be doing critter coloring pages and an Enviroscape water cycle demonstration throughout the day. These activities are welcome for all ages, however the Junior Ranger program is usually appropriate for children aged 6 and up. Participants can complete the Junior Ranger CORE activities, collect passport stamps, and earn an official Junior Ranger badge, patch, or pin!

No reservation required. Meet at the table under the right side of the Devil's Millhopper Visitor Center.
