The Friends of Ravine Gardens, Inc., is hosting a photo challenge during each month of 2017. Each month will have a different theme. Contact the park at (386) 329-3721 on the start date of each challenge to request the theme of the month.
Bring your camera and explore the park to get the perfect shot and submit your photo for a chance to win! Along with recognition, the winner will be awarded two, day entry passes good for Florida’s 174 award-winning state parks, trails and historic sites, up to 8 people for most parks. Monthly first-place winners are also automatically entered to win a grand prize at the end of the 2017 Photo Contest term.
Monthly Submissions will be open the first Monday of each month, and run until the last Friday of the month. This month’s contest will run starting on 11/06/2017 and all entries must be received by 11/24/2017.
Photographs must be taken within Ravine Gardens State Park. You may submit up to two photos. Digital photographs must be a minimum resolution of 1024x768 (or higher) pixels. All photographs must be submitted in a digital format (in either a .jpg, .tif, or .png format) and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Contestants must also complete a photo release form upon entry, which can be found here.

Skip the crowds and shopping frenzy this year! Join Colt Creek for its annual Black Friday Turkey Trek. Walk off your Thanksgiving feast while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Green Swamp.
There will be three ranger led hikes to choose from: a photography hike, a short hike, and a longer hike (between 3-4 miles). All hikes will meet in the Great Heron Pavilion at 9:30am. Everyone is encouraged to bring bug spray, sunscreen, and closed toed shoes. On-site refreshments and light snacks will be provided by the Friends of Colt Creek.
Junior Ranger Program @ Paynes Prairie Preserve State ParkFriday, November 24, 2017 - 10:00am to 3:00pm EST

Come visit our Junior Ranger table from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Learn how to become a Junior Ranger and join us for lots of cool nature activities! Children can complete the Junior Ranger CORE activities, collect passport stamps, and earn an official Junior Ranger badge, patch, or pin! Junior Ranger activities are appropriate for children aged 6 and up, but we will also have critter coloring pages and smokey bear stories available for all ages.
No reservation required. Meet us inside the visitor center located within the main park entrance, off US 441 in Micanopy.

Manatee Springs State Park will be holding Clay Landing Days a living history event on November 24th and 25th. Clay Landing will bring you to a time when the Seminoles and Settlers lived in the Clay Landing area. There will be Covered Wagon Rides that take you on the North Trail with a stop at the Seminole Chickee Hut were Settlers and Seminoles will let you see what life was like in the Clay Landing area. All activities will begin at Manatee Springs Day Use Area from 10am to 3pm both days. The Day Use Area will also have Settlers showing cooking and crafts of the time period. There are Wheel Chair Accessible Wagon Rides available.

Enjoy viewing the sun, moon, stars and other celestial objects through telescopes with the Northwest Florida Astronomy Association. The program is weather dependent and a decision is made by 12:30pm the day of the program. Call the ranger station before heading out for the program. Participants need to be in the park before the gate closes at sunset.
Sunset Paddle Tour @ Oleta River State ParkFriday, November 24, 2017 - 4:00pm to 6:00pm EST
The Tour is 2 hours long and $35.00 per Adult or $25.00 per College Student.
Have you ever gone Kayaking at night? Sunset Kayak/SUP Tours are available every Friday evening at the BG Oleta River Outdoor Center. We paddle for 1 hour before arriving at Sandspur Island where we will take a break and watch the sun go down. Once the sun has set, your Guide will turn on bright colorful lights located on the front and back of your Kayak or SUP before a 30 minute paddle back to the Outdoor Center.

Join us the 4th Friday of every month, for an evening full of music and entertainment featuring a live drum circle. From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., come and enjoy this musical experience. Like all public drum circles, all voices are welcome. There are a few extra drums but if you have some please bring them along. Also, to increase your comfort, we recommend that you bring a blanket or a chair. In addition to drumming and percussion, singing and dancing are highly encouraged! An audience is always needed so feel free to watch and listen.
Enter the park through the main entrance located at 5656 East Silver Springs Boulevard (State Road 40).

An Evening Under the Stars @ Big Lagoon State ParkFriday, November 24, 2017 - 6:00pm CST
Free event with regular park admission. You must arrive before sunset to pay the park entrance fees. The park closes at sunset, which varies throughout the year.
Escambia Amatuer Astronomer's Association is partnering with Big Lagoon State Park to offer an Evening under the Stars. They will have multiple telescopes available for viewing different celestial objects of interest.
