The event is free with paid park admission if you just wish to stroll through the gardens and view the scarecrows. Refer to http://friendsofmaclaygardens.org for fees required to enter a scarecrow in the competition.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park and the Friends of Maclay Gardens, Inc., invite you to enjoy Scarecrows in the Gardens! The 9th Annual Scarecrows in the Gardens event will kick off on October 15th. From the wacky and scary to the artistic, come enjoy these handcrafted creations along the Gardens’ brick walkway. If you want to join the fun, the Friends of Maclay Gardens invite you to create a one-of-a kind scarecrow to display in the Gardens through November 7th. Businesses, community groups, schools, families, and/or individuals are welcome. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Adult, Business, Non-Profit and Youth categories. Adult, Business and Non-Profit winners receive tickets to the 2017 Moon Over Maclay Concert to be held in the evening on Sunday, November 5th. Youth and People’s Choice winners receive cash prizes. Pine Needle Basket Class @ Dade Battlefield Historic State ParkTuesday, November 7, 2017 - 10:00am to 1:00pm EST
Cost is $3/vehicle park entrance fee or Florida Annual Park pass plus $5/person, 12 and under free activity fee.
Pine Needle basket class for beginners using Long Leaf Pine needles to make a small basket. All materials will be provided. Please pre-register as class size is limited to 10 people.
Dade Pioneers @ Dade Battlefield Historic State ParkTuesday, November 7, 2017 - 4:00pm to 6:00pm EST
Cost is $10/child for school year and includes membership in Dade Battlefield Society
Dade Pioneers is an after school program for ages 8-18. Each program consists of nature and history programs, crafts, games and food.
Eco Fitness Classes @ Oleta River State ParkWednesday, November 8, 2017 (All day)
"By combining health-fitness with outdoor recreation, Eco Fitness appeals to those seeking to increase time spent exercising and connecting with nature. Through a strategically formulated exercise regimen, participants will see adaptation to their physical abilities as well as an increase in their love for the great outdoors.
Eco Fitness Classes incorporate Kayaking/Stand Up Paddleboarding, Mountain Biking, Swimming and Plyometrics over the course of 2 hours for the low price of $40.00 per class.
Classes are held the first 2 weeks of the month; Wednesday evenings, Friday andSaturday mornings."
