Free Entry to Coastal Cleanup volunteer participants.
Join volunteers across the globe in participating in the annual International Coastal Cleanup, sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy. The Cleanup takes place in over 104 countries around the world. The Cleanup efforts at Mizell Johnson will focus on the beach, the wooded areas, the picnic area, and portions of the Intracoastal waterway.
Please dress appropriately for the weather, either rain or shine, as we will only cancel the Cleanup due to a tropical storm system resulting in a Watch or Warning. Call ( 954) 519-1218 for cancellation information. To participate, bring a hat, gloves, sunscreen, and water.
When you arrive at the gate, tell park personnel you are participating in the Coastal Cleanup. Once in the park, make your first left and sign in at the boat ramp.

Do you want to learn how to Stand Up Paddleboard?? Come learn the foundations of beautiful sport at the BG Oleta River Outdoor Center, located within the Oleta River State Park. "Walk on Water" through Mangrove Creeks leading out to Biscayne Bay. Our knowledgable "SUP" instructor will provide you with a 10 minute on land lesson, including the anatomy of the board. Learn how to properly launch and mount your board followed by slowly coming to the upright standing position. You will learn proper paddling technique, how to handle adverse weather conditions and how to help another paddler in need.
Don't be intimidated! This watersport is easier than it looks. Pick up a new hobby while meeting other local outdoor adventurists!

Park staff and the Friends of Dunns Creek State Park are hosting a Volunteer Work Day! Projects will vary from month to month, however they will mostly focus on trail maintenance, park maintenance, and resource management, such as removal of invasive plants and preparing prescribed fire zones for burns.
No experience is necessary. We will provide all of the training you need and will supply all of the materials and tools. Bring your family and friends as we enjoy the outdoors! By volunteering for this event, you and your family will also have free access to the park for the day.
Please wear sturdy footwear (no open toed shoes) and clothing appropriate for working outdoors. Insect repellent and long pants are highly recommended as participants will be exposed to ticks and mosquitoes while working. We are asking that all participants bring a re-usable water bottle.
Volunteers will meet at the day use picnic area in the main park (located off Sisco Road), unless otherwise noted. Contact the park office at (386) 329-3721 to verify meeting location.

Each Saturday of the month we invite visitors to come and participate in our “Geocache Topsail “& “Topsail Photo Scavenger Hunt” programs. You may choose to do one or both programs and return to the camp store to pick up a surprise at the end of your visit. Enter the park through the main gate and park staff will direct you to the camp store to pick up your program packets, you will need a gps or a smart phone capable of gps as well as a camera or smart phone for pictures.

Experience St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park by way of kayak. This is a unique opportunity to visit one of Florida's magnificent barrier islands. You will paddle through mangrove lined creeks and visit a pristine, undeveloped beach. Your guide will point out various plant and animal species, including some that are rare or endangered, as well as providing insight into the management activities used at the park. Visitors of all ages and skill levels are welcome. The tour is approximately 3 hours long.

Sure, summer season is over but that doesn't mean the fun should come to an end! The Friends of Camp Helen State Park are hosting their 2nd Annual Fall Festival from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Camp Helen State Park. This event is a delightful and unforgettable way to spend a fall day with family and friends. The event will feature food, live music, face painting, games, arts and crafts for children, cake walk, and much more. The Friends of Camp Helen State Park are also hosting a Pumpkin Patch fund raiser and will have pumpkins for sale that day.
Parking at the state park will be limited to those who need accessible parking. All others are requested to park at Winn-Dixie and ride the free shuttle to the event. Winn-Dixie is at the junction of U.S. 98 and Front Beach Road, a mile east of Phillips Inlet Bridge and about 5 miles west of Highway 79.
