Join us every Sunday at 11 am at Koreshan State Historic Site for Crystal Circle with Nikki D. Crystal Circle is an excellent way to allow your children to explore the world of crystals and meditation in a safe and comfortable setting! This class has been designed for children and teens between the ages of 5-17 to be able to touch, feel, experience and learn about the magic of crystals and the many physical and metaphysical properties they each carry! 

Each week Nikki D. will introduce us to a new and exciting stone. We will learn about the stones history, origins, as well as its metaphysical properties and we will have the chance to do a mini meditation geared towards tapping into that stones energy! After the meditation each student will be invited to share their expereince and they will even get to take a new stone home each week!!

Learning about and purchasing native plants can be a daunting task, but it just got easier! The Coccoloba Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society volunteers will be selling native plants at the Koreshan State Historic Site Farmers Market Sundays, 8:00am - 1 pm.  Experts will be on hand to help answer your questions and teach you about the wonderful benefits of adding native plants to your landscaping. Guided Scrub Walk @ Oscar Scherer State Park

This weekly walk begins at the Nature Center and includes an informative walk through an ancient dune system.  This unique habitat is home to the threatened Florida scrub-jay and a variety of plants and other animals.  Participants should wear comfortable footwear for walking in soft sand.  Cameras and binoculars are suggested.  Space is limited to 15 people.

Take a guided kayak tour with a Ranger, paddling through Lake Worth Lagoon to Munyon Island, with your sights set on spotting estuary birds and migratory songbirds on the island.  The cost for the two-hour tour is $25.00 for a single kayak and $40.00 for a double kayak (2 people).  Bring a water bottle, binoculars and your favorite birding guide, keep in mind they might get wet.  Reservations required, space is limited.

Learn how to become a Junior Ranger and how you can help Florida's ecosystems in state parks. Children can complete the Junior Ranger CORE activities, collect passport stamps and earn an official Junior Ranger badge, patch or pin. Junior Ranger activities are appropriate for children aged six and up but we will also have critter coloring pages and Smokey Bear stories available for all ages.

AmeriCorps' Non-native Plant Terminators (A.N.T.s) will also be there to talk about the invasive plants at San Felasco and how everyone can make a difference in the health of our beautiful park!

Join us for a Guided Walking Tour of the Historic Koreshan Settlement. Explore structures and gardens of the 19th century utopian settlement and learn about these idealistic pioneers. The walking tour is about an hour and a half and is accessible to all.

 

Additional Information:

Park admission is $2 for bicycle/pedestrian, $4 for one person in a vehicle, $5 for up to 8 persons in a vehicle. Walking tour lasts approximately 1 hour and is mostly outdoors on a crushed shell path. Please bring water, proper footware, and sun protection. Wheelchair available upon request.

Requests for these and other tours for clubs, home school associations, and other groups can be made by calling the Ranger Station at (239) 992-0311. We make every effort to accommodate all groups, however we may not be able to fulfill requests made with less than a two week notice.

In partnership with the Marion County Animal Services, Silver Springs State Park presents an opportunity to make a difference in the life of a shelter dog. Every 4th Sunday, join volunteers and park staff as we walk a pack of well-behaved dogs through the park's gardens and trails. This program gives the animals exercise as well as a chance to socialize with other dogs and other people. All of the dogs are available for long-term adoption but you can also "adopt" a dog for the morning and take it for a walk with the group. For only a small amount of time you can make a huge difference in the life of a shelter animal. Hikers and walkers are welcome to join the group even if they do not want to hold a leash. Please note, only visitors 16 years or older may walk a shelter dog.
