Join us for a Guided Walking Tour of the Historic Koreshan Settlement. Explore structures and gardens of the 19th century utopian settlement and learn about these idealistic pioneers. The walking tour is about an hour and a half and is accessible to all.

 

Additional Information:

Park admission is $2 for bicycle/pedestrian, $4 for one person in a vehicle, $5 for up to 8 persons in a vehicle. Walking tour lasts approximately 1 hour and is mostly outdoors on a crushed shell path. Please bring water, proper footware, and sun protection. Wheelchair available upon request.

Requests for these and other tours for clubs, home school associations, and other groups can be made by calling the Ranger Station at (239) 992-0311. We make every effort to accommodate all groups, however we may not be able to fulfill requests made with less than a two week notice.

Junior Ranger Program @ Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park

Come visit our Junior Ranger table from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Learn how to become a Junior Ranger and join us for lots of cool nature activities! Children can complete the Junior Ranger CORE activities, collect passport stamps, and earn an official Junior Ranger badge, patch, or pin! Junior Ranger activities are appropriate for children aged 6 and up, but we will also have critter coloring pages and smokey bear stories available for all ages. 

No reservation required. Meet us inside the visitor center located within the main park entrance, off US 441 in Micanopy.

Enjoy a leisurely, Ranger guided walk along the 1.1 mile Golden Orb Trail loop. Visitors will enjoy learning about the diverse plant life and the various habitats that are vital to the Florida Keys ecology. It is highly recommended that participants bring water to drink and wear a hat and sunscreen. Please note that periodically the trail will flood during high tides so we recommend that you wear shoes that can get wet. Additionally, you may wish to bring sunglasses, bug spray, cameras and binoculars. We leave from the Board Walk at 1:00 P.M.

To participate in this program you must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and walk small inclines.

Sunset Paddle Tour @ Oleta River State Park

Have you ever gone Kayaking at night? Sunset Kayak/SUP Tours are available every Friday evening at the BG Oleta River Outdoor Center. We paddle for 1 hour before arriving at Sandspur Island where we will take a break and watch the sun go down. Once the sun has set, your Guide will turn on bright colorful lights located on the front and back of your Kayak or SUP before a 30 minute paddle back to the Outdoor Center.

Join us the 4th Friday of every month, for an evening full of music and entertainment featuring a live drum circle. From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., come and enjoy this musical experience. Like all public drum circles, all voices are welcome. There are a few extra drums but if you have some please bring them along. Also, to increase your comfort, we recommend that you bring a blanket or a chair. In addition to drumming and percussion, singing and dancing are highly encouraged! An audience is always needed so feel free to watch and listen.

The Department of Environmental Protection's Eden Gardens State Park will host a star gazing program on September 22, 2017. Volunteers from the Northwest Florida Astronomy Association will set up several telescopes for public viewing of star clusters, planets and galaxies. They will also answer questions about the night sky. All ages are invited to enjoy the evening of star gazing. The park will close at sunset at 6:39PM. All those attending should arrive prior to park closing. Event is weather permitting.

Volusia County ECHO Ranger program educates youth, scout troops, and their families about the Ecological, Cultural, Heritage, and Outdoors offerings in their area.  

Here, at DeLeon Springs State Park, learn about the park's history with a self-guided Visitor Center Scavenger Hunt activity.  Then pick up a self-guided Nature Trail Scavenger Hunt to explore the half-mile paved Nature Trail, which is wheelchair accessible.  Get a Junior Ranger booklet from a Park Ranger and complete it to earn a badge, certificate, free park pass, and an extra stamp!

Show your ECHO Ranger badge at the Ranger Station for direction to the program sites and Junior Ranger information.
