AmeriCorps Invasive Plant Removal Day @Tuesday, September 19, 2017 - 8:30am to 3:30pm EDT
Are you a hard-working nature lover looking to make a difference in your local community? Come join the Savannas Preserve State Park AmeriCorps FLCC Members in the battle against Invasive Plants! An Invasive Plant Removal Project will be taking place on Tuesday, September 19th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (Don’t worry, you don’t have to stay the whole day!). Volunteers will be meeting at the Savannas Preserve State Park Administrative Office, located at the end of Riverview Drive in Jensen Beach. Or you can meet the group at 9 am at the Hawk’s Bluff Trailhead located off of Savannah Road in Jensen Beach. Please bring a reusable water bottle, lunch, bug spray, sunscreen, work gloves, a hat, and closed-toed hiking shoes. Don’t forget your good attitude and enthusiasm too! Experience St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park by way of kayak. This is a unique opportunity to visit one of Florida's magnificent barrier islands. You will paddle through mangrove lined creeks and visit a pristine, undeveloped beach. Your guide will point out various plant and animal species, including some that are rare or endangered, as well as providing insight into the management activities used at the park. Visitors of all ages and skill levels are welcome. The tour is approximately 3 hours long.

Explore the Estuary Boat Tours - Save Our Waters Week @ Crystal River Preserve State ParkTuesday, September 19, 2017 - 10:30am EDT

In recognition of Save Our Waters Week the Friends of Crystal River State Parks Inc. will provide complimentary boat tours to citizens and visitors (Tuesday and Thursday ONLY). Guests will board the Vessel Monroe to embarq on a 1.5 hour narrated boat tour. Park staff and volunteers will highlight the unique attributes of a spring fed estuary in hopes of bringing a heightened awareness of water issues along the Citrus County coastline. Tuesday's and Thursday tours will depart at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.
Reservations are required, as the capacity for the tour is 24 people. Call to reserve your space today.
