As you roam down the short trail to the Cow Camp, you will travel back in time to 1876. At the end of the trail, you will find a Florida Cow Hunter in a frontier camp along the route of a cattle drive. He will be cooking, making coffee, tending to the cattle or just resting up until the next roundup or cattle drive. The Cow Hunter will be very happy to share stories about what his life is like and the challenges he faces.

Offsite Cow Camps are available for groups of 15 or more, schools, community organizations, special events, etc. Call the Ranger Station for more information.

Stay away from the craziness of Black Friday by hiking and shopping at the Savannas Preserve State Park. There will be a naturalist-led hike at 9am Friday, November 25th leaving from the Education Center at 2541 Walton Road in Port St. Lucie. Pre-registration is required. Go to http://www.friendsofsavannas.org and click on Tours and Events to register. Then stop at the gift shop in the Ed Center for 10% off Hats, T-Shirts, Nature Themed Jewelry, Stuffed Animals, Children's Books and more! The sale is for everyone--even if you don't go on the hike.
