The Friends of Dunns Creek State Park are excited to host their Kayaking 101 program! This program is designed for anyone interested in kayaking, particularly beginners. An instructor certified by the American Canoe Association will teach you the basics of kayaking during this three hour session. You will learn kayak safety, boarding kayaks, paddling strokes, and basic paddling maneuvers.
The training is limited to 6 participants and is $25 per person. Kayak, paddle, and Personal Flotation Device (PFD) rentals are included in the training fee. No children under 14 years of age please. Children 14-17 are able to participate ONLY with a registered parent/guardian accompanying them. Kayaking is a water sport so expect to get wet and dress accordingly. There are no refunds available for the training, unless another participant can fill the spot.
Directions: The training will be held on Lake Broward at the Lake Broward Recreation Area on N. Broward Avenue in Pomona Park near Dunns Creek State Park.

Join Park staff as they teach you the basics of paddle boarding and paddle board safety. You will then have an opportunity to get in the water and test your new found knowledge!

Beachwalk and Estuary tour @ Lovers Key State ParkThursday, October 6, 2016 - 10:00am to 11:30am EDT

Take a leisurely one-mile walk over the estuary and along the beach with a park naturalist. Find out what washes ashore on the beach during the night and learn about coastal wildlife. Due to limited space, reservations are required.

Regular park entry fees apply for non-hunters.
Permitted hunters are exempt from park admission on the days of the hunt and the preview day before the hunt. Hunter access at other times requires normal park admission.
During this weekend of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission's Rock Spring Wildlife Management Area Archery Hunt, the park is open for normal activities. However, to protect our visitors, some trails will be closed. All hunting areas and trail closures will be clearly posted.
