Topsail Hill Preserve State Park invites you to enjoy a Ranger led hike and informational program about Prescribed Fires. Prescribed burning is a management tool widely used by foresters, parks departments, range and wildlife managers, ranchers and other landowners to manage excessive natural fuels under very specific and safe conditions. Many states across the United States have a large percentage of public land, making statewide coordinated prescribed burn plans feasible. Prescribed fires at Topsail Hill Preserve ensure we are managing our resources in a way that will actually reduce wildfires, rejuvenate wildlife habitat, provide control of invasive brush and improve watersheds. Enter the park through the main gate and park staff will direct you to the program location.
Please be prepared for a hike on the trails through some of the varied plant communities to be found in the park. Ensure that you are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions and are wearing comfortable, closed toed footwear. Also, ensure that you bring with your sunscreen, insect repellent and adequate drinking water.
In the event of inclement weather, an informational program on the topic of Prescribed Fire will be held in The Clubhouse
