We are officially in our winter season here at Oleta River State Park. The temperature has dropped and the mosquitoes have taken a break for a couple of months. The birds have begun their winter migration so there are plenty of birding opportunities throughout the park. White-eyed vireo, loggerhead shrike, yellow-bellied sapsucker and pied-billed grebe have been spotted, to name a few.
Discover the park through mountain biking, hiking or trail running on the park’s fourteen miles of multi-use trails. The trails offer a fun and challenging experience for all skill levels.
Go kayaking, canoeing or stand-up paddle boarding on the beautiful Oleta River or Biscayne Bay. Bicycles, kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, beach chairs and umbrellas can be rented from the BG Oleta River Outdoor Center located in the park, or you can bring your own. Spend the day at our beach or enjoy a picnic at one of our nine pavilions available for rent.
If you enjoy fishing, we have a fishing pier and several miles of shoreline available for your enjoyment. Fishing bait can be purchased at the BG Oleta River Outdoor Center located within the park. For fishing regulations visit http://www.myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/regulations.
On behalf of the entire Oleta River State Park staff, we welcome you to come out and enjoy this little piece of paradise and serenity within the heart of North Miami.
