Jonathan Dickinson State Park

First and third Wednesday of each month, 8:30 a.m.; learn about the globally imperiled sand pine scrub ecosystem and its inhabitants. Meet at the Camp Murphy Bicycle Trailhead parking lot located between the front entrance and Pine Grove Campground.

Walk through the globally imperiled Florida scrub and learn about this unique ecosystem and the wildlife that depend on it to survive. Jonathan Dickinson contains one of the largest tracts of scrub remaining in Florida and is home to the endangered Florida scrub-jay, which is often seen in the park. The challenge of scrub land management will be discussed while looking for the endangered Florida scrub jay and other wild scrub inhabitants.

The walk will last approximately one hour and takes place on an old paved road and some sandy roads.
