Sasha Craft, Park Manager
Welcome to Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park! Thank you for your interest in the park. Maclay Gardens is a historical gem located in the north region of Tallahassee, FL. Our park consists of a recreation area, an 11-mile trail system and 28-acres of historical gardens! We provide several recreational opportunities to our park visitors.
The park is currently in peak blooming season which lasts from January 1st – April 30th. This is the time the Maclay family lived in the park and the gardens were designed to bloom. We have several varieties of camellias and azaleas ready to pop with color. The Maclay House Museum is only open during peak bloom season. So, plan a trip soon to visit the beautiful Maclay House! It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily during bloom season.
Looking for some outdoor recreational activities besides the gardens? The park has kayaks and mountain bike rentals available. If you would like to spend a day paddling around Lake Hall or mountain biking on one of our trails, the park has everything you need! Contact the Park's Ranger Station (850-487-4556) for more information.
We are always looking for volunteers to join our team! If you would like to help keep the gardens beautiful, work in the ranger station, help keep trails maintained, perform historical research and documentation, or help in any other way, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Terri Messler, at 850-245-2959. We have a number of positions available and training is provided.
The Friends of Maclay Gardens, Inc. is our citizen support organization. This is a dedicated group of volunteers that you can become involved with! They generate support for Maclay Gardens through work projects, community relations, exhibits, fund raising activities, special events, and educational activities. For more information on events and how to become a Friend of Maclay, please visit http://friendsofmaclaygardens.org/
Again, thank you for your interest in Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. We hope to see you and your family in the park very soon!
