Leatherback sea turtle

The sea turtle nesting season has begun at the park. On April 4, Park Ranger, Rob Matriscino, discovered the six-foot wide tracks of a leatherback sea turtle leading up to a nest that looked like it was dug by a tractor. This is one of the first sea turtle nest recorded in 2017 at any Florida State Park. By the end of the sea turtle nesting season in October, the park will have recorded on average, over 2,000 sea turtle nests on the park’s 1.6 miles of beach. If you would like to watch a loggerhead sea turtle nesting on our beach, don’t miss your opportunity to take part in this once in a lifetime event – Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays during June and ending on July 14. Registration is online at Tickets go on sale on May 30 for the event and are $12.00 each. If sea turtles aren’t your fancy but car shows, music and food trucks are then please join us for our Cruisin Food Fest event.
