Ichetucknee Springs State Park

Join Park Staff and The Friends of Ichetucknee Springs State Park for National Public Lands Day as we target the invasive plants appearing within the park.

By land or by river! Participants can chose which activity they would like to assist with.

By land we will be working in the South Entrance area of the park to remove crotalaria. We will meet in front of the Education Center (South Entrance of park, off U.S. Hwy 27) for sign up and orientation and then transport (provided) to the work site. We will be removing crotalaria from the Sand Hill communities around the south parking area by hand pulling.

By river we will be working in the Grassy Flats area of the park to remove water lettuce. We will meet in front of the Education Center (South Entrance of park, off U.S. Hwy 27) for sign up and orientation and then transport (provided) to the work site. We will be using canoes, buckets, and recycling bins to harvest water lettuce, move ashore, and dispose of plants at a high bluff location. Canoes and equipment provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own equipment.

A BBQ lunch will be provided after the work is done by the Friends of Ichetucknee Springs State Park for participants. Please e-mail Trini Johannesen (johanneseni@columbiak12.com) to RSVP for yourself and any volunteers you will be bringing with you and specify if you will be staying for lunch. We hope to see you there!
