Join us as we celebrate National Public Lands Day! Both Ravine Gardens State Park and Dunns Creek State Park will be offering a number of volunteer opportunities, led by AmeriCorps members, including:
- Flower Garden Weeding (Ravine Gardens)
- Bamboo Removal (Ravine Gardens)
- Trailblazing (Dunns Creek)
- Trail Maintenance (Dunns Creek)
A team leader will be at each site and will begin with a short introduction about National Public Lands Day, along with an introduction to the project and a safety briefing.
Please wear sturdy footwear (no open toed shoes) and clothing appropriate for working outdoors. Insect repellent and long pants are highly recommended as participants will be exposed to ticks and mosquitoes while working. Gloves will be provided. If you have your own equipment you like to work with, please feel free to bring it.
Ravine Gardens: Participants will meet under the large pavilion. Dunns Creek: Participants will meet in the picnic area near the new day use area.
Lunch will be provided for all participants. The Friends of Ravine Gardens will be providing lunch at Ravine Gardens and The Friends of Dunns Creek will be providing lunch at Dunns Creek. We are asking that all participants bring a re-usable water bottle.
Pre-registration is recommended so that we can assure that enough food for lunch is onsite. Please sign up on volunteermatch.org or email Bradley.Akins@dep.state.fl.us or Lynn.Crossfield@dep.state.fl.us. Day of registration will be available from 8:00am to 8:45am.
Fees are waived for volunteers.
