Wild Cotton Bloom

Many of the tropical plants found on Mound Key bloom in the rainy time of year so this makes it a great time to visit this remote park. Species like wild cotton, morning glory, lantana, and Jamaican caper have spectacular flowers that can be seen right along the trail. With these flowers come plenty of butterflies which add to the splendor of this remote park. There are no facilities on the island, so please ensure you bring the necessities (water, bug spray, etc.) for a successful outing. If you have questions about the park, you can contact the Koreshan State Park Ranger Station at 239-992-0311.
