Family Photo

Spring is upon us and with it the renewed desire to be outside. If you are looking for a safe place to take the family that has a multitude of things to do then come to the Florida Caverns State Park and make a day of it. Choose anything from fishing, canoeing, biking, and swimming to our famous cavern tour.

Florida Caverns is certainly known for its highly decorated tour cave, but did you know it has approximately 7 miles of multi-use trails that wind through hardwood forests and a flood plain? If hiking isn’t to your liking perhaps a canoe trip up river can entice you. Bring your own or rent one of ours and travel up the Chipola River to see some beautiful springs. Please remember when planning a trip in the outdoors, to wear appropriate clothing and don’t forget to bring your insect repellent.

For those of you who simply like to eat and watch others play, we have shelters that can allow that very thing. All shelters have grills for use and Hickory Pavilion has a playground and a large grassy area for soccer, Frisbee, or football.

No matter the season or weather, Florida State Parks have something fun to keep you active and amused. Through countless programs, events, and exhibits, we transform neighborhood parks and playgrounds into classrooms, theaters, gyms, planetariums, museums, and more. You can find fitness opportunities tailored to your age, location, and interests, or discover local events that match your availability and recreational desires.

While visiting the Florida Caverns, you can enjoy a variety of recreating activities such as sunbathing, swimming, camping, boating, snorkeling, canoeing, wildlife viewing, hike down one of our many trails, or visit our gift shop, visitor center and museum. If fishing is on your itinerary, you can fish the Chipola River by shoreline or by boat. There is something for everyone to enjoy with a multitude of recreational opportunities and abundant wildlife activity. If time is an issue, then stop and ask a ranger what they could recommend for someone with your tastes. Make this coming year memorable by visiting a Florida State Park near you!
