The mission of Florida State Parks is to provide resource based recreation while preserving, interpreting and restoring natural and cultural resources. At Bahia Honda State Park there has been a lot of focus on restoration since Hurricane Irma. The process of restoration has begun and continues daily. It fills us with a great sense of pride to be able to serve the public again. The staff and contractors have made huge strides and this has allowed us to open a small portion of the park for day-use and some camping facilities. We currently have one beach open, Calusa, which is our bayside beach. Bahia Honda has re-opened two campgrounds, Buttonwood and Bayside.
Come spend the day with us, pack a picnic lunch, towels, sunscreen and a beach umbrella. While you’re here, take a stroll up on the old Bahia Honda bridge, the view may look different but it’s still a thing of beauty. The safety and comfort of our visitors is important to us and we are working hard every day to open other areas of the park. Please feel free to visit The Friends of Bahia Honda website or Facebook page for more photos and to see how you can help.
